Is HubSpot CMS right for you?

Wondering how much the HubSpot CMS costs? Since June 15th, there is now a completely free version! You may think that this version is too limited for your needs. Although limited, HubSpot's free CMS could still meet the needs of some businesses.

Without a doubt, if you're already using HubSpot for your CRM, whether it's for sales or marketing, using HubSpot's CMS could be a wise choice. Managing everything on the same platform is a significant benefit to improving the productivity of your sales and marketing teams.

The biggest limitation of the free version of HubSpot's CMS is the number of web pages you can manage. The free version is limited to 25 pages and pages in different languages only count once. So you can have a bilingual site (French and English) with 25 pages in French and 25 pages in English. On the other hand, the pages for your blog posts are limited to 100. The content customization features, called "smart content", are not available in the free version.

There are several advantages to moving your site to HubSpot's CMS, here are some of them:
  • Quality hosting / 99.99% uptime
  • Management of your SSL certificate
  • A built-in firewall (Web application firewall: WAF)
  • 24/7 monitoring for security
  • Drag & drop management of your site
  • Mobile optimization
  • Free (and paid) HubSpot themes
  • AMP support for your blog
  • Access to HubSpot's app marketplace
  • Up to 100 blog posts (20 authors / 50 tags)
  • Tool to import blogs from Wordpress to HubSpot
  • Forms management
  • Multilingual management
  • Custom domain management

There is one drawback: the free version will have a mention at the bottom of your site that your site is managed and hosted by HubSpot. The page redirection tools will not be available with the free version of HubSpot's CMS. However, these limitations no longer exist if you upgrade to the very inexpensive 'Starter' version ($25 USD / month or $33 CAD).

You may not want to move your company's main website to a free version of a CMS, and that's totally understandable. However, the HubSpot CMS version could be very useful for you to launch a microsite about a particular product or service. When we talk about a microsite, we are not just talking about a small website, but rather a limited time website. For an event or a product launch, it would be a good idea to consider it. It could save you a lot of time and not only money.

The vast majority of websites use the WordPress CMS. There are many advantages to switching from WordPress to HubSpot's CMS. The most important ones are that you won't have to manage your website hosting, updates and most importantly, you won't have to worry about security. In theory, for many businesses, you won't need to hire programmers to update your website.

About HubSpot Starter

On June 15, 2022, HubSpot took the opportunity to enhance the HubSpot Starter version and the maximum number of pages increased from 15 to 50. In addition, page variations in different languages no longer count, as with the free version. The cost of HubSpot Starter is only $25 USD ($33 CAD) per month. Don't forget that you won't have to pay hosting fees anymore. Plus, you won't have to worry about managing updates or security issues. Think about it!
